Girls Summer Trip to Asheville, NC
Last weekend some of my childhood girlfriends and I met in Asheville, NC for our first annual July girls trip! It was the perfect setting for hanging out and catching up, with delicious food, great drinks, and friendly community. It was such a blast!
We started our weekend by meeting at the Airbnb in West Asheville and walked to the Westville Pub on Haywood for a post-roadtrip decompress and bevy. From there we grabbed an Uber and headed downtown to the restaurant Cúrate for lunch, which has amazing tapas, a lively yet cozy atmosphere, and great cocktails (highly recommend). From there we walked down to Wicked Weed where we had a great time catching up outside on their patio with some flights of beer. Then we popped into Urban Orchard Cider Co. for a quick cider and our last stop of the evening was Burial Beer Co. The cider at Urban Orchard is really incredible and they have a large selection of options, their Mountains to Sea is my favorite. Burial was the perfect final stop to the evening because they have a great food, an amazing beer and drink selection and a fun atmosphere both indoor and outdoor. We grabbed some of their Innertube Lager for the river float the next morning and it was delish (their merch is awesome too).
Saturday morning we woke up and headed to French Broad Outfitters for a 3 hour river float. It was such a great time and a fun, relaxing activity to do with a group of friends. You can pack a cooler and grab some ice and other last minute float needs at French Broad before heading down the river, (and they have the friendliest staff!). We regretted not bringing a water proof speaker for the float, so we recommend brining on with or grabbing one there!
After the float we headed back to the Airbnb for a shower and to change then headed to The Wedge in the River Arts District. The beer was fabulous and the burgers and hot dogs at the food truck on site were so yummy (like hotdogs? Ask for the hotdog encased with jalapeños topped with mustard). Right across from the Wedge is a strip of cool shops and galleries
From there we headed downtown to walk around some more and stumbled upon a street poet who wrote us the most wonderful poem about friendship, we then stumbled into the The Times Bar & Coffee Shop for one of their incredible espresso martinis.
Our airbnb was located in West Asheville, a walk away from Haywood Ave. where Westville Pub, West Village Market & Deli, Biscuit Head and other cute spots are located. It’s a beautiful area and I would love to stay there again, but plan ahead if you’re Ubering to Downtown or other areas of Asheville because it can be a 20-25 min wait (no big deal, we just didn’t know until we were trying to rush for a resy!). We ordered in a couple nights because after a long day of exploring in the sun we just wanted to get comfy and hangout. We ordered pizza and salad one night from Del Vecchios (it was delish), and Mexican one night from Elena’s Mexican Grill (also delish!).
Sunday morning we woke up early before the drive back to grab some breakfast at Biscuit Head, their food is SO yummy, and the fried green tomatoes and honey lavender latte are out of this world. Asheville is such a friendly city with amazing food, breweries, shopping, hiking, river floating - there’s so much to see and do, we loved every minute of it and are already planning our trip back!
