Pregnancy, Hospital and Postpartum Must Haves

After back-to-back pregnancies I zeroed in on the things that I have found to be essential during pregnancy, to take to the hospital for a comfortable stay and while breastfeeding.

I love Oribe products and this shampoo and conditioner set does not disappoint!  It smells so good and my hair lasts for several days while still feeling fresh, which, is crucial for hardworking mamas.

Even before my pregnancies I used Après Waves all the time and it’s a product that will always be a regular in my beauty cabinet.  It creates the perfect messy and sexy waves without leaving residue or a crunchy feel.

I’ve been using this product for years and it’s a staple.  It’s the perfect weight for my wavy, frizzy hair and I was thrilled when I discovered that it’s pregnancy and breastfeeding safe.

Biologique Recherche products have been the crux of my skincare routine for several years and this facewash is one of my favorites.  It’s creamy and makes your skin feel refreshed and clean without over drying.

This is the holy grail night cream for me, I love everything about it, and it works!  When I use it consistently, I can tell a major difference in how smooth and healthy my skin looks and feels.

I love Odacite products because they’re clean and their serums can easily be added to your moisturizer or worn alone.  I got this serum during my second pregnancy because my skin needed a little pick-me-up.  I layer it under or mix it with a creamy moisturizer and it does the trick.  Bonus is they’re small and can easily be packed for travel, or carried in your purse for a little moisture reapplication throughout the day, something to think about especially during these cooler months.

I discovered this gem when looking for a product that was pregnancy safe with nice coverage, but that felt light and airy and easy to apply – this one checked all the boxes!  I’m obsessed with its natural coverage and lightweight feel.

This treatment is amazing and helps maintain and strengthen your hair.  I use it once or twice a week depending on how often I need to wash my hair and it works.  I’ll be using this product more often to try to combat postpartum shedding and breakage.

I used this belly oil religiously with both of my pregnancies.  It’s moisturizing but doesn’t feel greasy.

This nipple butter is so calming and moisturizing and made with good products so it’s safe for you and baby.  I kept one in my diaper bag and one at home.

  • Nipple Pads

I kept both washable nipple pads called Bamboobies, and some disposable, Lansinoh, on hand.  The Bamboobie are very soft and comfortable, and a pack comes with 4 pads.  It was hard for me to get them washed consistently, so I used the disposable pads too.

Washable  - Bamboobies

Disposable  – Lansinoh Stay Dry Nursing Pads

I knew that taking care of a one-year-old and a newborn I wouldn’t have the time to sit and pump, so this was at the top of my must-have list going into my second pregnancy, and this pump has been a gamechanger!  It connects to an app on your phone so you can easily keep track of how much you’ve pumped and the parts are easy to clean and sterilize.  The suction and power are great and I’ve found that I usually get about three 20-minute sessions with each charge.

I lived in this onesie during my pregnancy and continue to wear it postpartum.  It’s a cute style, loose and easy to layer.  You can wear it around the house with a nursing bra, sports bra or throw a t-shirt on underneath and a cardigan or cropped hoodie over top.

I’ve always been a big fan of Hanky Panky and I found the lace French cut perfect for during pregnancy and postpartum because of the high cut around the stomach and leg.  They’re so pretty and soft!  I ordered one size larger than my usual size and that was perfect.

This bra is cute, soft and great to sleep in when nursing.  I wore it most of the time during my hospital stay under my robe so I could comfortably and easily nurse my little one.

I searched high and low for a supportive and comfortable sports bra; I tried all the usual suspects and nothing really worked for the 34DD size I needed.  Then a friend of mine suggested Calia, so I bought two styles and they were the perfect fit!  The Go All Out Front Zip is my go to and I wore it after having my first child while I was breastfeeding and all throughout my second pregnancy and postpartum.

For the Hospital Stay

The boppy has been a great addition to my breastfeeding regimen during this second pregnancy because of its comfort and ease and that it doubles as a tummy time pillow for my baby.

I’m a big fan of comfort and Ugg are always a staple for me.  These slippers are great because there is no fear of slipping as it has a thick rubber sole and they are very comfortable.  They’re perfect for hospital and home.

Barefoot Dreams has the coziest robes!  I got one before going to the hospital for my first pregnancy and I wore it with a nursing bra and sweatpants pretty much the entire stay for both.  They also make great gifts - I gave one to my mom for Mother’s Day and she loved it.

My husband knows all things tech and got this portable charging station for me and it is the best, I love it.  Instead of having to search for an outlet and dragging a really long power cord, you can just have this brick attached to your phone to charge while lying In the hospital bed.  It charges super quickly as well, so I use it at home all the time or throw it in my purse or the diaper bag when needed.

An eye mask is crucial for the hospital given how often people are in and out throughout the night, and I love this one because its weighted and smells like lavender.  You can also heat it in the microwave for extra coziness.

If you have any suggestions for amazing pregnancy/postpartum products please share!  I’m still discovering some awesome baby products, and I’ll share those in another post.
